My favorite places to get access to well-trained, independent, objective advisors
are the following:
• www.napfa.org for those looking for an ongoing relationship with a competent fee-only® planner, likely including investment management. All of NAPFA’s planners must provide comprehensive financial planning, have taken a fiduciary oath to treat their clients’ money as they would their own, and are subject to double the continuing education requirements of most CFP® professionals.
• www.garrettplanningnetwork.com for those looking for objective, independent, hourly financial planning without investment management help. Garrett’s planners focus on what’s called the “middle market,” meaning that they don’t have the high minimum asset levels of most financial planners.
• www.kinderinstitute.org for those who are specifically looking for a relationship with a life planner who can help navigate both the emotional and financial aspects of life.
